Week Four

Hello Friends,

Welcome to my Legislative Newsletter and thank you for subscribing. The first four weeks of session have been very busy, although Staff and I are settling in and getting our feet underneath us.

The filing deadline is next week on the 28th, so we will have a sense of just how many pieces of legislation will be moving through after that date. The last count I heard was that there were over three thousand bills.

Committee work keeps me very busy, and it is rewarding work.  There hasn’t been a list of bi-partisan bills to move through yet this session, and the legislation has been good. I also had a meeting with the Governor and discussed issues within our District. The Governor had a story in the Oregonian that discussed a normal work week, and I was included. I thought I might give you my schedule for the same week. The Oregonian Story can be found here: http://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/02/kate_brown_work_week.html

Things here are about to pick up in pace. Many of our farmers and ranchers have contacted me regarding HB 2859. This bill would hurt our farming industries and we will be working to stop this bad legislation. We are however, working on HB 3041, that will help our farmers.

It is an honor and a privilege to work for you and I thank you for the opportunity. Please Click Here for my Week Four Video Update. Thank you, God Bless and don’t hesitate to reach out.
