Manufacturing Workforce Partnership Celebrates 6 Years
This private-public partnership includes the City of Hillsboro, educational institutions, community organizations, and industry partners.
The group recently rebranded to AM-TECH: Advanced Manufacturing Training & Education Collaborative of Hillsboro, to more accurately reflect their work in:
- assisting and guiding workforce initiatives in hiring
- sourcing talent
- developing technical skills and training

City of Hillsboro Co-Hosts Fair Housing Bus Tour
Economic & Community Development sponsored a Fair Housing Bus Tour presented by the Fair Housing Council of Oregon.
The tour explores Oregon’s history of discrimination, displacement, and segregation — and how it relates to the fair housing challenges we face today. The tour was organized by the City of Hillsboro, City of Beaverton, and Washington County.
City staff included Anne Thrall-Nash, Juliet Bachtel, Nick Baker, Amy Kreimeier, Becky Coutinho, Lauren Scott, Rachel Marble, Colin Miletich, Eunice Makinde, and Omar Martinez.
Hillsboro Team Presents at Oregon American Planning Association (OAPA)
Mandy Gawf, Chris Hartye, David Bonn, and Chris Barry presented on the collaborative approach to Homelessness Initiatives in Hillsboro at the annual OAPA conference.
The presentation was selected through a competitive process and showcased the engagement, outreach, and holistic efforts the City has enacted to provide long-term support to unhoused community members and explore new ways to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Fire & Rescue
Teaching Hands-Only CPR In Spanish
Engineer/EMT Luis Mota represented Hillsboro Fire & Rescue and taught an estimated 800 Latino community members Hands-Only CPR entirely in Spanish at the first annual Tu Salud Latino Health Fair presented by Telemundo Portland.
10 Probationary Firefighters Continue Training
Ten new firefighters have graduated their training academy and continue their training with on duty fire crews responding to emergency calls. For the next eight months, some fire apparatus will respond with five firefighters.

Pavement Manager of the Year Award
Greg Hayes, Public Works Senior Engineering Technician, was named Pavement Manager of the Year by the Northwest Pavement Management Association.
