OPS Partners,
I am writing to let you know about some upcoming changes to the Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS) section.
Both OPS and the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP) are experiencing budget shortfalls. After taking steps to reduce costs (e.g., not filling vacant positions, reducing non-personnel costs), the next step in our resource-limited environment is to look for other impactful ways to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness. To that end, OPS and OMMP will come together to form one section, the Oregon Psilocybin and Medical Cannabis Section (PMCS). The transition will be occurring gradually over the summer with a September 1, 2026, completion date.
I will be leading PMCS and look forward to using my public health policy and regulatory experience to support this new venture.
Megan Lockwood, currently the OMMP section manager, has a unique and exciting opportunity to move to the Health Licensing Office (HLO) as their interim director as Bob Bothwell, the current HLO director, retires.
Over the next two months, Megan and I will be working closely to ensure a supportive transition for staff with a focus on continuity and stability for partners.
I know that these kinds of changes can be difficult. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions.
Sincerely, Angie
Angela E. Allbee, MPA (She/Her) Section Manager, Oregon Psilocybin Services Section Oregon Health Authority Public Health Division Center for Health Protection 503-689-5034
