Oregon Health Authority Announces Funding for Rural Hospitals and Rural Health Clinics

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), in partnership with the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) and the Office of Rural Health (ORH), is announcing funding for rural hospitals and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) across Oregon.

This funding is part of Oregon’s Rural Health Transformation Program, a multi-year effort to strengthen access to care and support health care delivery in rural communities across the state.

All eligible RHCs will be offered a standardized funding amount. Rural hospitals will also be offered funding through a tiered approach, designed to reflect differences in size and capacity. Final funding amounts for year 1 are outlined below.

Smaller Hospitals with less than 50 beds: The 32 rural hospitals with less than 50 beds are eligible for  $963,000.

Larger Hospitals with 50 or more beds: The three rural hospitals with 50 or more beds are eligible for $1,394,000.

Additional clinics may receive their RHC certificate from CMS and become eligible for Transformation Awards.

This funding is intended to support rural providers in maintaining and expanding access to care, strengthening workforce capacity, and addressing community-specific health needs.“Rural hospitals and clinics play a critical role in ensuring access to health care in our rural communities. These investments are designed to support both immediate needs and longer-term sustainability,” says Robert Duehmig, Director, Oregon Office of Rural Health.
