Fall is in the air, and the school year is well underway! We know this is a busy season, and we’re grateful for the work happening every day across Oregon’s schools and communities. Thank you for your continued partnership and all you do to support Oregon students.
We hope you find this month’s updates and resources helpful.
In this month’s message, you’ll find information about:
Announcements
Federal School Improvement School-level Improvement Plans
Updates/News/Information
Progress Updates: Our team is reviewing preliminary data from 2025-26 to determine identifications for 2027-28. Some schools may be asked to meet with their assigned Region Team in the coming weeks for a collaborative conversation. No formal Progress Update is required to be submitted at this time.
School-level plans: These are nearly complete for 2026-27, and the final step is to identify which outcomes and strategies from the Integrated Plan schools will be focusing on. Please follow these instructions to update or add school-level improvement plan information.
Attendance Resources
Join our Attendance Learning Series on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 3:35 p.m. PT, where we’ll focus on data literacy. This monthly series provides an opportunity to support implementation efforts, share promising practices, and connect with attendance practitioners from across Oregon.
Explore the Integrated Community Partnership (ICP) Progress and Impact Brief to learn how community-based organizations and schools are partnering to strengthen attendance. The brief highlights promising practices, including using data to inform strategies, building caring connections, and addressing students’ holistic needs through mentoring and peer support.
New Resource: Enrollment, 10-Day Inactive and Withdraw Guidance
Oregon’s school finance rules require schools to move students to inactive enrollment status after 10 consecutive days of absence, a process commonly referred to as the “10-day drop.” This administrative process ensures accurate enrollment reporting for school funding purposes.
ODE’s Enrollment, 10-Day Inactive and Withdraw Guidance helps schools navigate this requirement while keeping students and families at the center. The guidance includes strategies for reengagement before withdrawal, civil rights and equity considerations, and procedures for re-enrolling students who return.
EIIS Funds Now Biennial
Due to a recent rule change in April 2026, EIIS has now become a biennial grant, which means you can still spend Year 1 funds until 6/30/27. If you had unclaimed EIIS Funds from your 25-26 allocation, then your Year 1 EIIS subgrant in EGMS has been reopened so you can claim funds as you incur expenses. You will have a separate Year 2 subgrant in EGMS. EIIS Grant Amendments with added Year 2 allocations will be coming out to the field for signature shortly.
2025–27 CTE Revitalization Grant Awards
ODE is pleased to announce the 2025–27 CTE Revitalization Grant awards! This eighth round of funding will support 51 CTE programs across Oregon, expanding and strengthening career and technical education opportunities for students. This cycle’s grant provides $6,462,445.50 in funding to support critical curriculum and equipment enhancements in Perkins-approved Programs of Study. Fifty-five district teams applied, with projects reviewed by an independent committee representing diverse backgrounds and regions across the state. Funding recommendations considered geographic equity, industry engagement, community connections, regional economic impact, student leadership and long-term sustainability.
