Appreciation
As the 2025–26 school year comes to a close, the Oregon Department of Education extends sincere appreciation to educators across the state for your dedication, professionalism, and deep commitment to student learning. Throughout the year, we have been grateful for your leadership, creativity, and perseverance, particularly your thoughtful input at the Oregon Math Framework engagements in May.
This time of year offers an opportunity to reflect on challenges met, milestones achieved, and the collective work that is strengthening mathematics teaching and learning for all students. Your contributions to the Math Framework, classroom implementation, and collaborative learning spaces are helping build a more coherent, equitable, and inspiring math experience statewide.
Thank you for the care and expertise you bring every day as you foster students’ confidence, curiosity, and joy in learning mathematics. We wish you meaningful end‑of‑year celebrations and activities, and a restful, rejuvenating summer as you prepare for the year ahead.

Oregon Math Framework Next Steps
The final Oregon Math Leaders meeting of the year will be on Thursday, June 18th 8:30 am – 9:30 am. We will review the feedback from the May Math Framework Engagement sessions. Attendees will provide final feedback on the draft directions to the Math Framework writing team. Register here for this meeting to join this conversation.
Additional June Sessions: Oregon Math Framework Engagement
The Oregon Department of Education invites district administrators, instructional coaches, and math educators to participate in upcoming statewide engagement sessions to provide initial input on the development of a K–12 instructional framework for mathematics. This framework is grounded in strong research that is aimed to share a statewide vision for mathematics instruction in combination with High Quality Instructional Materials.
ODE offered engagement sessions in May and is extending these opportunities with additional sessions in June to ensure broader participation. Register for one of the Math Framework Engagement Sessions listed below. Note that these June sessions repeat the same content and format as the May sessions. Each session begins with an overview and background for the work, followed by opportunities to provide feedback through focused breakout discussions. The content is the same in all three sessions, offering multiple options to fit your schedule.

Summer Professional Learning: AI Math Summer Sandbox
WestEd is offering a six-week virtual learning series focused on the use of generative artificial intelligence in mathematics teaching. The Artificial Intelligence Math Summer Sandbox provides educators with structured time to explore AI tools and design their own AI-supported teaching assistants in a collaborative setting.
The series runs on Wednesdays from July 1 through August 5, 2026, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. PDT via Zoom. Each session introduces a new concept related to AI in math education, followed by hands-on time to experiment, create, and share with peers.
The series is designed to support educators at a range of experience levels with AI. Participants may also opt to earn one graduate-level credit through the University of the Pacific.
Additional details and registration information are available through WestEd.
