These awards celebrate the dedication, effort, and excellence of our school communities in improving attendance. The Quarter 4/Annual Report will be due on September 30, 2026. As a reminder, ODE will no longer require the submission of a Quarter 3 report on May 15, 2026. Customized Coaching and Professional Learning (CCPL) Bright Spot: Early Literacy Coaching for Linn Benton Lincoln ESD

The CCPL team at ODE recently connected with the Literacy Instructional Coach from Linn Benton Lincoln ESD, Tami DeFault-Toomb, to talk about their literacy support plan and the progress being made through a CCPL partnership. The work is moving the dial for educators and students! Here's what Tami shared:

"Through CCPL partnership with WestEd, Linn Benton Lincoln ESD has been able to provide a multi-layered system of support for improving student outcomes in early literacy for the region. We are focused on creating coherence across district systems through professional learning and coaching that centers its work in the "student experience" and uses data to drive meaningful improvement cycles. Our goal is to support district and building leaders in developing a common vision and creating the conditions that allow for collective efficacy around high impact instructional practices. Literacy Leaders are thriving in our community of practice as they tackle this work together while teachers are receiving timely and situated professional development and coaching in their respective buildings. Paraprofessionals who lead reading groups are being offered an 8 part series on the Science of Reading to help them fully understand the HQIM they teach and how they are aiding in closing the achievement gap. This series has been so well-received that building leaders are requesting it for certified staff next year. Our commitment to supporting all layers of the system through professional learning and coaching while finding ways to make sustainable change is moving the dial for 9 elementary buildings in our region." To learn more about how your region or districts can get connected with the CCPL at no cost, please email ODE.EII@ode.oregon.gov and we'll get a conversation going! “
