Dear Colleagues,
The Expanded Learning Team at the Oregon Department of Education invites you to apply to serve as a peer evaluator for the State Summer Learning Grant 2026-28 competitive grant cycle. Peer evaluators play a critical role in evaluating and scoring grant applications submitted by eligible entities across Oregon as part of this statewide program.
We are seeking 40-50 evaluators with field‑based expertise in evidence-based literacy instruction, program and curriculum design, leadership, grant management, and/or experience designing or leading summer learning programs. This work requires thoughtful professional judgment, attention to equity, diversity of perspectives, and integrity throughout the review process.
Your knowledge and insight are essential to ensuring high‑quality, equitable summer learning opportunities for students across Oregon.
Time Commitment
The estimated time commitment for peer evaluators is approximately 15 hours, and includes training, independent scoring, and a calibration session if needed.
Tentative Evaluation Timeline
The following dates are tentative and subject to change.

Required Virtual Training (2-4 hrs): March 26, 2026
- Application Review Window (8-10 hrs): March 27 - April 9, 2026
- Final Score Calibration Meeting (1-2 hrs, if needed): April 10, 2026

If you have capacity to serve, please complete the Evaluator Interest Form by Monday, March 2, 2026.
Selected reviewers must complete a conflict‑of‑interest disclosure to ensure a fair unbiased process. Note: Staff of entities applying for the State Summer Learning Grant are not eligible to serve as peer evaluators.
