USDA Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) regulations require that all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsors complete CACFP Annual Training each year (7 CFR 226.16(d)(2)). The Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs (ODE CNP) creates a set of mandatory trainings on civil rights and other relevant topics each year and assigns them to all CACFP sponsors. All mandatory trainings must be completed by the assigned individual in order to meet all CACFP Renewal requirements.
This year, the CACFP Annual Training is comprised of three videos. Information on all three videos is included in this memo.
Trainings and quizzes must be viewed and completed for the following responsible principal:
- CACFP Food Program Coordinator only
The current Food Program Coordinator is listed on CNPweb in the Sponsor Information Sheet application. Sponsors are encouraged to check their Sponsor Information Sheet to ensure that all responsible principals listed on the application are up to date.
Here are the requirements for all center-based CACFP Food Program Coordinators:
All trainings must be viewed and the two quizzes must be completed by the Food Program Coordinator by August 1, 2025.
Family Day Care Home sponsors received the first part of their CACFP Annual Training on May 12, 2025, but Food Program Coordinators must also complete the Civil Rights Training and Racial and Ethnic Data Collection training, and the Civil Rights Annual Training Quiz listed above. Family Day Care Home sponsors who have questions can reach out to their assigned Child Nutrition Specialist.
While Authorized Representatives and other responsible principals are not required to take these trainings unless assigned by their Child Nutrition Specialist, ODE CNP encourages all responsible principals to review all annual training videos to better understand CACFP requirements.
The Food Program Coordinator must complete all assigned CACFP Annual Training Requirements in order to complete Renewals for CACFP for Fiscal Year 2026. Those who fail to complete all training requirements may be determined to be Seriously Deficient.
If you have questions about CACFP Annual Training requirements, please reach out to your assigned Child Nutrition Specialist.
