CTE Agriculture Educator Named OATA Outstanding Teacher
Daniel Bolen, agricultural science and technology instructor for Elgin School District, has been named as Outstanding Teacher by the Oregon Agriculture Teacher's Association (OATA).
In a recent OPB Think Out Loud interview, Daniel discussed Elgin's agriculture program and his hopes to continue creating opportunities for his students involving work-based learning and leadership.
West Albany Teacher Named NBEA National Business Educator of the Year
Joey Running, a business educator at West Albany High School, has been recognized as the 2024 National Business High School Educator of the Year by the National Business Education Association (NBEA).
During nearly two decades at West Albany High School, Joey's work has emphasized the importance of teaching personal finance with current, engaging, up-to-date resources. She has advocated with her students for a personal finance course/higher education and career path skills semester courses as graduation requirements for Oregon students.
Oregon Young Employee Safety--also known as O[yes]--is sponsoring a media/advertising contest geared toward inspiring teens to enroll in online safety awareness training.
Entrants are asked to create an advertisement in one of two formats--a 90-second video or a graphic/poster--to be judged in separate categories.
First-place winners in each category will earn $500 for themselves, with a matching prize for their school. The contest is open to high school students living in Oregon.
Deadline for submission is Friday, February 21, 2025.
