Four Oregon CTE educators have been recognized for their dedication and leadership

2024-2025 Regional Teachers of the Year
Sheri Carson (Roseburg High School-CTE Health Sciences/Culinary/Hospitality and Tourism) and Robert Parker (Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Technical Center-CTE Architecture and Design) are among the 2024-2025 Regional Teachers of the Year, presented by the Oregon Department of Education in partnership with the Oregon Lottery.

Eighteen Oregon public school teachers, representing various grade levels and disciplines, were recognized for their exemplary work with students and positive contributions to their communities.

Harbor Freight Tools For Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence
John Stearns, CTE Director and construction teacher at Amity High School, has received a Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence.
The prize recognizes excellence among high school skilled trades teachers and is intended to increase understanding, support and investment in skilled trades education in U.S. public high schools.

Oregon ACTE Administrator of the Year
Adam Randall was named Administrator of the Year by the Oregon Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) at the organization's 2024 conference.
Adam was recognized for his work as CTE coordinator at Henley High School, where he expanded CTE programs of study and secured industry and community partnerships, along with coordinating expansion of programs at other area schools.
Since receiving the award, Adam has joined Klamath Union High School as Vice Principal-Curriculum, Career and Technical Education.

Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls was highlighted for its leadership in health care education and workforce development at the 2024 Annual Oregon Association of Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Conference.
Sky Lakes' unique approach to integrating students into the health care workforce involves partnership with Klamath County School District, Klamath Falls City Schools, and Klamath Community College.

Help Spread the Good News About CTE
The CTE Statewide Student Advisory Council is seeking photos, videos, and social media content for its ongoing #ThisIsCTE social media campaign.
Initially launched in February 2024 as part of CTE Month, the campaign intends to promote the impact of CTE by highlighting student experiences from across the state.
Help spread the word and encourage students and/or instructors to submit #ThisIsCTE stories.
Special Reminder: Innovation Zones Proposals are Due October 30
Remember to submit your ideas for the Innovation Zones Pilot Project via the proposal form no later than October 30, 2024. For more information, you can review the related materials or contact Jennell Ives.
Deadlines are Approaching: NASA Student Challenge and USJCI Scholarship
The NASA TechRise Student Challenge will award $1,500 each to sixty winning teams (sixth to 12th grade) submitting experiment ideas to fly on a high-altitude balloon flight. Deadline to apply is November 1, 2024.

The U.S. Junior Chamber International Senate Foundation will grant scholarships to selected graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at an accredited postsecondary college or university, or accredited vocational or industrial school. Deadline to apply is January 17, 2025.
