Dear Superintendents,
As you wrap up the 2023-24 school year, it’s a good time to reflect on your district’s compliance with the Division 22 Standards and to plan for changes that will go into effect in the coming year. The Division 22 Standards are the requirements that the Oregon Legislature or the State Board has determined must be met in order to be a standard school district, containing requirements relating to curriculum and instruction, district policies, performance and accountability, and human resources and staffing.
Tool for Internal Tracking of 2023-2024 SY Division 22 Compliance
- ODE provides an internal tracking tool that districts can use to gather and record information on compliance with each rule. You may find this document useful for tracking compliance from year to year and maintaining continuity and historical context as there are changes in personnel.
- To help districts track changes to requirements and complete an accurate report in the fall, ODE has highlighted new rules and provided italicized notes in the summary column regarding any changes and/or waivers that were in place for the 2023-24 school year. New requirements that need to be in place for the 2024-25 school year are also highlighted.
- The internal tracking tool is a resource we are providing based on feedback from the field; there is no requirement to use it. Please note that the tracking tool is intended for internal district use only. It cannot be used to report to the community, as all districts are required to use the standard community report template for that purpose. The updated community report template will be available in August.
