Vale Middle School CTE Teacher Wins National YouScience Award

Springfield School District Wins "Oregon's Best" Video Award
Springfield Public Schools has won a first place award as "Oregon's Best" in the video storytelling category from the Oregon School Public Relations Association (OSPRA).
The winning video--"CTE: Pathways to Professions"--highlights Springfield's CTE courses, which provide students an opportunity to explore and travel various career paths.

Hillsboro Students Participate in Aerospace Career Day at Oregon Air Show
High school students in the Hillsboro School District O-ACE (Oregon Aerospace Careers for Everyone) program supported elementary and middle school students on May 17 in learning about the fundamentals of flight and the various career areas within aviation.
The event--held during the Oregon Air Show at the Hillsboro Airport--provided students an opportunity to engage in hands-on aviation, science, and engineering activities led by pilots, aviation mechanics, and jet engine engineers.

The ACTE Impact Awards recognize groups and individuals from the education, business, and industry communities that enhance career and technical education by contributing to the improvement, promotion, development, and progress of CTE. While there is no membership eligibility restriction for applicants, all must be nominated by an ACTE member.
All nominations must be submitted on the ACTE Awards Portal by June 30, 2024.

The Horatio Alger Association National Career and Technical Education Scholarship program offers 500 scholarships at $2,500 each for students completing high school (or earning high school equivalency credential) by July 1, and planning to attend a not-for-profit postsecondary institution by September with an intention to pursue and complete an associate degree, certificate, or diploma program that will lead to employment.
(Additional eligibility requirements apply.)
Deadline to apply is June 17, 2024.

PreK-12 Engineering Education Conference: Free for Educators
Registration is now open for the 2024 ASEE* PreK-12 Engineering Education Teacher Conference, which will be held at Portland State University's Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science on Saturday, June 22, 2024. This year's conference theme is "Increasing and Diversifying Access to STEM."
