Action Needed
- Please submit your certified EASIE Part II application to the Office of Indian Education via Secure Data File Transfer or Google Submission Form by 11:59PT May 10, 2024. (Note: The EASIE Part II application does not include secure data; however, we did want to give districts the option of how to submit it.)
Background
As a state educational agency, Sec. 6119 of the Title VI Indian Education legislation indicates –

SEC. 6119. [20 U.S.C. 7429] STATE EDUCATIONAL AGENCY REVIEW.
Before submitting an application to the Secretary under section 6114, a local educational agency shall submit the application to the State educational agency, which may comment on such application. If the State educational agency comments on the application, the agency shall comment on all applications submitted by local educational agencies in the State and shall provide those comments to the respective local educational agencies, with an opportunity to respond.
As ODE partners with their Title VI LEA and LEA-C awardees to ensure compliance to Sec. 6119, at this time we are only collecting EASIE Part II applications – no comments will be made on the applications. In May of 2025, ODE will collect and comment on all EASIE Part II applications.
At the Title VI Indian Education Community of Practice monthly meeting on April 16, Title VI staff were provided information on how to upload their application to ensure compliance to Section 6119 and also learned more about ODE’s plan for commenting on applications, which will begin next year.
