Aligning for Student Success - April Message

As many of you return from spring break, our team hopes that you were to get some rest as you turn to finish out the 2023-24 school year strong!

In this month’s message, you’ll find information about:

  1. Quarter 3 Integrated Programs and Early Literacy Reporting
  2. Reminder to Sign Early Literacy Grant Agreements
  3. CSI/TSI School Plan Submission Now Available in Smartsheet
  4. Release of 2024-25 Preliminary Allocations
  5. Join Us at the 2024 Oregon Small Schools Association Annual Conference

Quarter 3 Integrated Programs and Early Literacy Reporting

Quarter 3 Reporting has opened for the Integrated Programs, including Early Literacy. The purple section of the RAD was unlocked earlier this week and reports are due April 30, 2024. More detailed instructions and resources can be found on your RAD and in this guidance folder.

  • For the Integrated Programs you will be required to fill in your expenditures for January 1, 2024 - March 31, 2024 in your 2023-24 Budget and Report Spent sheet and complete the Progress Markers sheet.
  • For Early Literacy you will be required to fill in your expenditures for October 1, 2023 - March 31, 2024 in your 2023-24 ELSSDG Budget and Reported Spent sheet.

To support Quarter 3 Reporting, our team will again offer multiple Office Hour opportunities. Please register at the specific links below and drop in with any questions regarding your Quarter 3 Integrated Programs and Early Literacy reports! After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Reminder to Sign Early Literacy Grant Agreements

As a reminder, for applicants meeting requirements for early literacy, you will receive a notice from Smartsheet to sign your ELSSDG grant agreement. The ELSSDG grant agreements do not require board approval. Once ELSSDG grant agreements are signed and returned, our team is committed to verifying and releasing funds promptly. Since ELSSDG is a disbursement grant, you will then be able to submit a claim for 100% of your 2023-24 allocation.

CSI/TSI School Plan Submission Now Available in Smartsheet

Districts with schools identified for Comprehensive Support & Improvement (CSI) or Targeted Support & Improvement (TSI) will need to submit school-level plans for each identified school for the 2024-25 school year. School leaders and district staff should collaborate on the development of the school-level plans and related budget. The window for these submissions opened April 1, 2024. Districts will be able to access plan submissions for each identified school under the reporting section of the RAD. As a reminder, plans need to be submitted by September 30, 2024.

Release of 2024-25 Preliminary Allocations

ODE is sharing the 2024-25 Preliminary Allocations for SIA, HSS, EIIS, and Early Literacy below. Please keep in mind that these are preliminary allocations and will change once we have finalized ADMw data from the 2023-24 school year in early June. The 2024-25 Preliminary Allocations for CTE Perkins will be available and posted to the website in a couple of weeks.

Please also note that we do not expect grant recipients to submit any budget or plan changes at this time based on these preliminary numbers. Any change can and will be accounted for during the first quarter report due October 31, 2024.

What Works” - Pathway changes that lead to good jobs…

This recently released report discusses the impact of pathway choice and educational attainment on the future success of learners. From the executive summary: "All along the journey from youth to young adulthood, there are critical junctures at which a change in pathway can have a tremendous impact on a young person’s future. For example, for a high school graduate, entering an educational program with economic value or getting a first job in a high-demand sector can substantially improve the likelihood of having a good job 10 years in the future."
