The Oregon Department of Education has released a Request for Information (RFI) and corresponding Smartsheet questionnaire in order to seek ideas for a potential LGBTQ2SIA+ Student Success Summit, hosted by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE).
At the request of individuals across Oregon who have felt isolated in their communities, we wish to create an in-person summit for LGBTQ2SIA+ serving and identifying administrators, educators, GSA advisors, and student leaders to connect, plan, and sustain LGBTQ2SIA+ affirming school communities to support student success and wellbeing. An intended outcome of this summit is to strengthen partnerships and reinforce networks serving LGBTQ2SIA+ students and community members statewide.
ODE is open to partnerships, and collaborations with a variety of organizations such as state agencies, community-based organizations (CBOs) and culturally-specific non-profit organizations (CSOs), school districts and ESDs, early learning providers, higher education institutions, and more.
The information gathered will be used to consider opportunities for designing and hosting a summit based on best practices, funding opportunities, safety measures, topics of interest, event spaces and venues, as well as potential partners to move this idea into reality in the coming year or two. Contact information provided will be used to reach out with follow up questions or more information as needed, in the event planning or ideation process.
