February is CTE Month: Youth Advisory Council Seeks Photos, Videos and Social Media Content
To promote the importance of Career and Technical Education (CTE), the CTE Youth Advisory Council - sponsored by the Oregon Department of Education and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission - is launching the #ThisIsCTE social media campaign in February 2024, which is also CTE Month.
The Council is gathering videos, photos and other content to increase awareness of CTE and highlight the exciting things students are doing across the state.
Help spread the word and encourage students and/or instructors to make submissions using this flyer and/or this submission form.
Submissions must be received by January 24, 2024, to be considered for CTE Month.

CTE Revitalization Grant 2023-25: Awards Announced
ODE has awarded CTE Revitalization Grants for the 2023-25 biennium.
The grant funds from the State of Oregon will help high schools, districts, and ESDs across the state to create or expand CTE Programs of Study in high-wage, high-skill, and in-demand fields including agriculture, automotive technology, building trades, computer science, cosmetology, digital media and broadcasting, engineering/robotics, health sciences, hospitality and tourism, and manufacturing.
The intent of the CTE Revitalization Grant is to support CTE POS that will meet workforce needs; support achievement of the Oregon diploma; and address the needs of historically and currently marginalized youth, learners, and families, including civil rights protected classes.

The Battelle Climate Challenge asks students grades 9-12 to research past and future impacts of climate-related hazards in their community and develop a proposed action to help build a more resilient community.
The grand prize winner will present at the Innovations in Climate Resilience Conference in Washington, D.C., and receive a $5,000 STEM grant for a U.S. nonprofit organization, public library, or public school.

For the Power to Explore Challenge, NASA is calling on K-12 students to research Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) - a type of nuclear "battery" - and develop a new RPS-powered space mission to a destination with limited or obstructed access to light.
Grand prize winners from each age category will receive a trip for two to NASA's Glenn Research Center to learn about the people and technologies that enable NASA missions.
