Re: Tracking Division 22 Compliance

Dear Partners,

As you wrap up the 2022-23 school year, it’s a good time to reflect on your district’s compliance with the Division 22 Standards and to plan for changes that will go into effect in the coming year. The Division 22 Standards are the requirements that the Oregon Legislature or the State Board has determined must be met in order to be a standard school district.

In support of this effort, ODE provides an internal tracking tool that districts can use to gather and record information on compliance with each rule. You may find this document useful for tracking compliance from year to year and maintaining continuity and historical context as there are changes in personnel.

To help districts track changes to requirements and complete an accurate report in the fall, ODE has highlighted new rules and provided italicized notes in the summary column regarding any changes and/or waivers that were in place for the 2022-23 school year. New requirements that need to be in place for the 2023-24 school year are also highlighted. The only requirement currently waived for 2023-24 is the Assessment of Essential Skills graduation requirement for the class of 2024.

Use this link to make a copy of the tracking sheet for your own use.

The internal tracking tool is a resource we are providing based on feedback from the field; there is no requirement to use it. Please note that the tracking tool is intended for internal district use only. It cannot be used to report to the community, as all districts are required to use the standard community report template for that purpose. The updated community report template will be available in August.

Thank you for your continued efforts to honor and uphold the Division 22 Standards. If you have any questions as you begin to prepare for submission of your district’s Division 22 Standards Assurances, reach out by email to Division22@ode.oregon.gov or call Susan Payne, Education Standards & Systems Specialist, at (503) 580-6814.
