Greetings Superintendents and Business Managers, 

Each year, Oregon Department of Education is federally required to collect specific data relative to ESSER I, ESSER II and ESSER III. We are reaching out to clarify the process for data submission and the date by which the data needs to be submitted. We acknowledge all that districts are navigating and appreciate your attention and responsiveness to this data submission request. This is an announcement of the process and we will provide additional information in the coming weeks. 

Background 

Each year the U.S. Department of Education (USED) requires states to submit data on the expenditure of their ESSER I, II, and III funds to fulfill federal reporting requirements. For school districts, Education Service Districts (ESDs), and state-sponsored charter schools, the 2021-2022 data collection process is very similar to the 2020-2021 reporting, with small adjustments made to align with the most updated federal requirements. ODE has worked to create as much continuity in the process between this year and last for ease of submission. 

ODE will use ESSER reimbursement data and other data already submitted to ODE to complete most of the federal report. Additionally, there is additional data federally required for submission by school districts, ESDs, and state-sponsored charter schools. 

Data Collection Request and Deadline 

To create the most streamlined process, ODE will provide online forms to submit this additional data. Grantees are required to submit their data using the online forms during the collection window between March 1, 2023, and April 7, 2023, in order to remain in compliance with the requirements for ESSER funding. 

The submission forms will be sent to school districts, ESDs, and state-sponsored charter schools via email and become available on the Annual ESSER Data Collection webpage on March 1, 2023. 

All data must be submitted through the submission forms by midnight on April 7, 2023. 

Data Collection Office Hours 

ODE will hold three initial office hours on Zoom to support district data collection and Q&A during the following times. You can sign up for the office hours below. We will also be sending sign-up information out via email.
