RE: New COVID-19 boosters now approved for people 5 and older in Oregon

Dear Colleagues,

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has announced children ages 5-11 in Oregon are now eligible for the new updated bivalent COVID-19 vaccine boosters. Updated bivalent boosters are recommended for anyone ages 5 and older who has completed a primary COVID-19 vaccine series or prior monovalent booster dose.

Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best way to protect our school communities and keep students learning in-person all year long. OHA and the Oregon Department of Education recommend everyone interested in receiving the new booster make a plan and get vaccinated.

To find a location nearest you visit OHA’s Get Vaccinated Oregon website or for more information visit the OHA COVID-19 blog. Sharing information on vaccination with your staff and school communities is another way to protect health and keep every student learning in-person, every school day.

If you have any questions about this update, please contact the ODE COVID-19 inbox at ODECOVID19@ode.oregon.gov. Thank you!
