Centering Student Creativity and Voice for the New School Year
Dear colleagues,
Thank you for showing up for another year to provide students with essential arts learning. Best wishes for a creative, generative and exciting new school year, and for new opportunities to know students and partner with them in their artistic learning! As the year begins, we want to feature resources that will help center student voices and uplift their individuality and creativity in the school community.
Some resources that may be of interest as the new classes walk through the door:
Centering Student Voices to Transform Educational Systems from the Arts Education Partnership features the voices of students and their opinions about how arts educators can provide authentic opportunities for inclusion for their students of color and all student populations.
OK You is a non-profit that creates and shares free arts, movement and creative projects to help students manage feelings of anxiety and fear.
Virtual Mentoring through Storytelling and Hip Hop by Naira Sidi, Marta Albert and Judy Lewis for the Arts Education Partnership tells the story of a music literacy centered project that incorporates student voice in innovative ways.
Thank you as always for your dedication to our students.
