Re: Summer Learning Grant Application Now Available
Dear Superintendents and Business Managers,
Thank you again for your patience as we distributed the allocations and parameters of the 2022 Summer Learning Grants. We are looking forward to another successful grant and great summer programs provided for Oregon’s students across the state.
The next step in the process is the application itself. To that end, please find the application form posted on the Summer Learning Grants webpage. You will see that we have simplified the application this year. First, the childcare grant is not being offered this year. Second, we are not requesting estimated number of students served or proposed plans for the grant funds. Instead, we will be collecting that information in the final reports.
The application period opens April 15th and closes at the end of the day on April 29th. You must apply during that time to secure your summer learning funds. If you do not apply during the application period, you will not be able to apply later. After the closing of the application process and review of all the applications, we will be redistributing the funds allocated to entities that did not apply among those who did.
After the applications are approved, then your organization will need to execute a grant agreement with ODE. Only after the grant agreement is executed may your organization submit claims for reimbursement. Please note that no claims will be approved until after the grant agreement is executed. Claims however can be dated back until April 4, 2022. We will not be providing any up-front funds this year. Instead, all funds will be distributed on a reimbursement basis.
Other important dates for this grant:

May 31, 2022: Grant agreements must be executed

October 15, 2022: Last date to spend summer learning funds

November 15, 2022: Last day to submit final reports and reimbursement requests to ODE
