Last week, tensions along the Ukraine-Russia border erupted into war. While traditional news sources are on the scene covering the crisis, this war is also being broadcast by Ukrainians and Russians on social media sites like TikTok. The resources below are intended to help students with some basic facts about the situation and some reminders on being critical consumers of information.
It is also important to remember that images of war can create stress and trauma. Many Oregon families have connections to Ukraine, Russia, and the surrounding nations and may have strong feelings and responses to the current situation. Also included below are SEL and trauma-informed resources to help create a positive learning environment.
Current events also provide an opportunity to address the analysis standards from the
2018 or the 2021 STANDARDS IN GRADES 4th - 12th:

- Propose a response or solution to an issue or problem utilizing research
- Determine and explain the historical context of events in the Eastern Hemisphere
