ODE CNP was notified by USDA of a printing error in the Code of Federal Regulations resulting in a misprint of minimum quantities of fluid milk at snack for children ages 3-5 years old. Previously, the minimum quantity was listed as 6 fluid ounces at snack for the age group. The correct minimum quantity of fluid milk at snack for children ages 3-5 years old is 4 fluid ounces. This printing error only applies to the snack meal pattern and is underlined in red in the image above.
ODE CNP had sent out the original memo on December 15, 2021 with a revision to the fluid ounce serving size. A revised version was sent out on December 16, 2021 to update the cup measurement serving size. Sponsors must use the version sent out on December 16, 2021 and discard all previous versions. The December 16, 2021 memo is linked in the Memos and Waivers section above. This version of the meal pattern chart is also available on the ODE CNP CACFP Meal Pattern and Menu Planning Page.
Multi-Site Sponsors in CACFP are now eligible to apply for monitoring waivers for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022. On December 21, 2021, ODE CNP sent out the CACFP Sponsor Monitoring Waiver Application to all Multi-Site Sponsors. This memo is also linked in our Memos and Waivers section above.
ODE CNP received approval from USDA to provide additional site monitoring flexibilities through September 30, 2022, which is the end of FY 2022. Sponsors can apply to waive monitoring requirements, including:
- The requirement to have an in-person component of a sponsor’s required monitoring activities (for all of FY 2022).
- The requirement to review each facility three times each year, unless averaging [7 CFR 226.16(d)(4)(iii)].
- The requirement to conduct at least two of the three reviews as unannounced [7 CFR 226.16(d)(4)(iii)(A)]..
- The requirement to include an observation of a meal service with at least one unannounced review [7 CFR 226.16(d)(4)(iii)(B)].
- The requirement to complete at least one review during each new facility’s first four weeks of program operations [7 CFR 226.16(d)(4)(iii)(C)].
- The requirement that no more than six months may elapse between facility reviews [7 CFR 226.16(d)(4)(iii)(D)].
Refer to the memo for full details. Sponsors must complete the Site Monitoring Waiver Request Form and receive ODE CNP approval prior to implementation.
Over the last year, many CACFP Sponsors have seen a growth in supply chain issues disrupting the availability of food service items needed for CACFP meal service. ODE CNP would like to hear about your experiences. Complete the FY 2022 CACFP Supply Chain Issue Survey.
Completion of this survey will help ODE CNP to develop technical assistance on this issue and ensure accurate reporting to USDA.
