Training Opportunity for Summer School Staff:
How to Respond to COVID-19 in Schools

Dear School and District Leaders,

As summer programs progress, schools can best serve their summer program students by  collaborating with their Local Public Health Authority (LPHA) to support contact notification - one part of contact tracing - in the event that a positive case or outbreak of COVID-19 occurs at school.

In April of 2021, ODE and OHA provided resources and partnered on training for school staff on how to respond to COVID-19 cases and outbreaks in schools.

The purpose of this email is to share information about two upcoming contact notification trainings offered by ODE and OHA to help equip summer school staff for their role in keeping students safe by responding to COVID-19 in schools. This training is being offered twice. Interested attendees can plan to attend just one of the two dates.

The training is designed specifically to equip summer school staff with the confidence, knowledge, tools and resources to conduct contact notification in partnership with their LPHA in the event that a case of COVID-19 is found in their school or in their district.

Please note: the training is identical to the one offered in April 2021.

Training Dates and Times:

  • Tuesday, July 6 from 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
