Career Connected Learning (CCL) Resource Hub Project - Summer 2021

Career Connected Learning (CCL) Resource Hub

What is happening?

Learners thrive when they are immersed in relevant learning experiences that connect to future career opportunities and move them through a system of Career Connected Learning (CCL). The system of CCL provides a framework for career development and guidance across the stages of awareness, exploration, preparation, and training that are both learner-relevant and directly linked to professional and industry-based expectations.

All learners throughout Oregon need access to high-quality opportunities that connect them to future careers. In the initial stages of career development, multiple opportunities for career awareness and exploration are essential to connect learners with educational pathways that lead to meaningful and satisfying careers.

This project is designed to provide a Resource Hub in Oregon to enhance educators’ access to CCL resources, materials and professional development to support equitable opportunities for students in career awareness and exploration.

What will it look like?

Who:  A team from Dialogues in Action (DIA), in partnership with ODE will be engaging educators, leadership, and core community partners around CCL across Oregon.

How: We will convene interviews, focus groups, and surveys to identify regional promising practices and gaps in order to collect, catalogue and develop potential CCL content and materials for a state-wide resource hub.

What: This resource hub will spotlight promising programs and practices in the initial stages of career awareness and exploration, with a focus on transitions for students from elementary school to middle school, middle school to high school, and high school to career and college.

When: The project launches May 2021 and resources will be available beginning September 2021.

How can you be involved?

Your help and partnership in this project is essential for getting a wide representation. Here are five ways to get involved:

  1. Right Now: Please share any “bright lights” in your locale or region, and/or resources and tools you find useful in providing or supporting career awareness and exploration opportunities. Email them to OregonCCLInquiry@gmail.com.
  2. Look For: Keep an eye on your inbox in May and participate in a brief online survey. We need to learn from you what is happening in your area. Your input will be vital to understanding the full picture of CCL as it exists across the state.
  3. Get Engaged: Share your promising practices, or that of your school, teams or region, in more detail by participating in an interview or focus group. If you would like to be considered, please send an email to Erin at OregonCCLInquiry@gmail.com and we will contact you.
  4. Pass it On: Share this communication with your partners in education.  Connect us with the business and industry partners, civic organizations and community partners that support your work in providing engaging opportunities for learners.
  5. Check it Out: In the fall of 2021, engage with the CCL Resource Hub! Pass it on. Put it into practice. As we continue to build the hub in the future, provide your insights, examples, and learning for others to share.
