SIA Update

In this week's message, the SIA team is sharing information to support your SIA work over the next few months. Specifically, we're including updates about the SIA Plan Update for current grantees and New SIA Grant Application for those who did not apply for SIA funds last year. The submission window for both opens later today and will remain open until June 30, 2021. Additionally, we’ve included reminders about the second progress report and claiming your remaining SIA funds this year. 

Current SIA Grantees: Grantees will need to submit a SIA Plan Update for the 2021-23 biennium, which is different from the full application cycle process as it provides grantees the opportunity to make adjustments (minor changes) or amendments (major changes) to their initial three-year plan informed by ongoing community engagement and application of an equity lens or tool. The SIA plan update process is detailed in Section Four of the Supporting Quality Implementation Guidance and a preview of the submission requirements can be found in Appendix B. The SIA Plan Update Smartsheet form link will be sent to current grantees later today via the SIAinfo@ode.state.or.us inbox. Recipients will need to complete and submit the form in one sitting during the submission window.

New SIA Applicants: School districts and eligible independent charter schools that did not previously submit an SIA Grant Application will need to submit a more robust application since ODE does not have the initial application for them. New applicants will be required to submit a full SIA Grant Application with all of the required narrative responses and uploads via a Google Form. A preview of the original application requirements can be found in Section Two of the Guidance for Eligible Applicants. The SIA Grant Application Google Form will be sent to anticipated new applicants later today via the SIAinfo@ode.state.or.us inbox. Recipients will need to complete and submit the form in one sitting during the submission window. 

To support your SIA Plan Update or new SIA Grant Application, ODE will be offering a number of office hour sessions leading up to the final submission deadline of June 30, 2021. Please click the links below to sign up for one of the time slots and come prepared with any questions!

Reminders

Second Progress Report: As a reminder, progress reports for the second period covering January 1 - March 31, 2021 are due today, April 30, 2021. If you have any questions as you’re finalizing your progress report, reach out to the SIA team at SIAinfo@state.or.us. 

EGMS Claims: Once you have an approved first period progress report, you are eligible to claim all 100% of the SIA funds in EGMS since it is a disbursement grant. Please note that all claims will need to be submitted by June 30, 2021, even if you have requested a summer extension and can continue spending funds through September 30, 2021.
