Oregon Receives FAFSA/ORSAA Grant to Support Schools and Students

The HECC’s Office of Student Access and Completion (OSAC) was awarded $50,000 for the Kresge/NCAN Supporting Postsecondary Enrollment During the COVID Era: FAFSA Completion Project.

This grant allows OSAC to work in partnership with high school staff, community-based organizations, and other college support programs over the next five months to increase FAFSA/ORSAA completions in hopes of broadening access to higher educational opportunities for more Oregonians.

Incentives:

  • All students who submit a FAFSA/ORSAA between now and August 30, 2021 are eligible to:
    • Receive a coffee gift card
    • Eligible to win one of five $1,000 scholarships
  • Schools are eligible to win $750 for:
    • Most improved FAFSA Completion rate (two schools in each OSAA classification)
    • Sharing best practices and strategies for success

By participating, you will receive:

  1. Access to student drop-in hours, student 1:1 sessions, and workshops for your students and families available in both English and Spanish
  2. Train-the-Trainer opportunities for FAFSA/ORSAA
  3. Weekly data reports
  4. Media kits to spread the word and raise awareness in both English and Spanish
  5. New FAFSA/ORSAA resources and materials in both English and Spanish
  6. Specialized training and support if you are working with incarcerated youth or foster youth, are in a rural area, or have a FAFSA/ORSAA completion rate lower than 50%
  7. Summer Bridge Messaging for students
