Oregon Department of Education - Oregon achieves - together

Dear School and District Leaders,

As we shared previously, we are releasing several documents today to support districts and schools as they plan for a strong finish to the 2020-21 school year.

Student Learning: Unfinished, Not Lost outlines three critical shifts to ensure children are seen and supported. Each shift centers equity and student strengths.

The Graduation Pathways 2021 Guidance outlines the requirements for the Class of 2021. This year's highlights include:

  • Credit requirements remain the same. Schools should provide support and ensure opportunities are available for seniors to earn credit for course work or learning.
  • Oregon Essential Skills Assessment and Personalized Learning Requirements are waived.
  • Prioritize on-site learning and support for seniors.

Updated Graduation Ceremonies Guidance for 2021, which provides guidelines and examples of safe, year-end school celebrations to honor our students.

The past 13 months have been extraordinarily difficult for students, families, educators and school staff. As we approach the final quarter of the school year I want to thank you again for your continued patience and strength as we get through these unprecedented times.

Please continue to use the ODE COVID-19 inbox for additional questions. Thank you!

Colt Gill
Oregon Department of Education Director
