Oregon Department of Education - Oregon achieves - together

Dear School Leaders, Superintendents, and Partners:

A few small but important changes have been made to Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance and support tools, as outlined in this message. Also included below is a list of important links, newly translated documents, and additional guidance to ensure you have these key resources easily accessible.

Changes being shared

  1. Section 0 of Ready Schools, Safe Learners is updated to align with Governor Brown’s statewide “Risk and Protection Framework.’’ The single change (pages 14 and 15) is the adjustment to having counties with a population of less than 15,000 grouped separately and those small counties will only need to meet case counts in the metrics framework and won’t need to meet test positivity. The metrics explainer has been updated to match this change.
  2. Section 1b of Ready Schools, Safe Learners (page 26) includes a new link from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The CDC now names people with disabilities and people with developmental disorders as a part of “Other People Who Need Extra Precautions.”
  3. Sections 2g and 2h include new limits for the use of staff shared spaces such as break rooms and conference rooms.
  4. The Exclusion Summary Chart is updated to reflect a discrepancy found between it and ODE’s “Planning for COVID-19 Scenarios in Schools.’’  The updated Summary Exclusion Chart now matches the information found in Scenario 4A.
