The purpose of this update is to share information about Funding for School Improvement (1003a Funds) including key points about allocations and spending.
Key Points

SY 2018-19 (Year 1) allocations expire September 30, 2020. In EGMS these grants are called:
- ESSA D & SI – PPD Engagement Grant
- ESSA D & SI – OIIPD Engagement Grant

SY 2019-20 (Year 2) allocations have been extended to September 30, 2021. In EGMS these grants are called:

SY 2020-21 (Year 3) allocations are being finalized, but anticipate a 10% reduction in allocation amounts. These grants will expire September 30, 2022. In EGMS, these grants are called:

We are aware that circumstances have created a need to adjust plans and budgets to reflect the current needs of schools and communities; in particular, leveraging these funds for distance learning and social emotional supports. Here is a link to a revised budget tool to help streamline planning, budgeting and reimbursement processes.
Reminder Regarding Claims
Lastly, we are requesting that claims associated with these funds contain additional information pertaining to the expenditures and alignment to approved plans and budgets. To expedite the approval of claims, we have developed a form to submit documentation pertaining to these grants. Claims will still need to be submitted through EGMS, but the form will replace the need to email ODE staff with supporting documentation.
