SIA Update

As we mentioned last week, we recognize that many of you are anxious for a status update on your SIA Grant Application. The SIA team will start communicating a status update with the 146 applicants whose applications have been reviewed starting next week!

Additionally, ODE will host an invitational workshop focused on the work you did to submit longitudinal performance growth targets towards creating a “Common and Customized Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.” The workshop is intended to honor the time, energy, and effort that you’ve poured into the development of draft targets. While there are many questions about the future of Student Investment Account, we are holding this workshop in the spirit of continuous improvement and a desire to support learning that helps you make the appropriate 2020-21 school year decisions based on the unique needs and circumstances of the local community.

This Week’s Frequently Asked Question

Q: We submitted our district’s application in early April. We need to be able to make plans using these funds (albeit less than first thought) and are trying to set our budget for the year. When might we receive our approval?

A: The issue in delay has little to do with allowability or our completing a status review - but on the financial decisions to be made on how or if the SIA will go forward. We hope that has been clear to you along the way and via our weekly updates.

We are experiencing the same kind of uncertainty as you are experiencing and remain in wait for decisions by the Governor or Legislature on how the funding for the SIA may be impacted.

We know that isn't helpful as you plan a budget. There remains a huge range of potential directions for the SIA - even a "surprise, all systems go" version.
