TransActive Gender Project

Dear Colleagues,

As visibility of gender diverse, nonbinary and transgender students and staff increases in communities and school districts throughout Oregon, the urgent need to collaborate on establishing affirming, inclusive and equitable PK-12 school environments is becoming more obvious every day.

We invite you to join us for From Policy to Practice: Building Your PK-12 Gender Diversity Toolkita free, two-day summit bringing together school leaders who work with transgender, gender diverse and nonbinary PK-12 students, faculty and staff.

The summit gives attendees the opportunity to play an active role in developing a practical and comprehensive workbook for Oregon schools and districts in both rural and urban areas—providing schools with resources for overcoming barriers to implementing inclusive policy.

Summit Programming to Include:

  • Professional Development Workshop on Gender Jenn Burleton, Program Director, Transactive Gender Project; and Danielle Torres, PhD, Associate Professor, Lewis & Clark Graduate School
  • Supporting Transgender and Nonbinary Educators & Staff Rafe McCullough, PhD, Assistant Professor, Lewis & Clark Graduate School
  • Q&A Session with Oregon Department of Education Karin Moscon, Education Equity and Civil Rights Specialist, Oregon Department of Education
