The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) – Private Professional Certification and Licensing Program (PPCL) wishes to inform constituents of an upcoming change to the FBI fingerprint‑processing fee that affects all programs requiring fingerprint‑based background checks.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has completed a national review of its fingerprint‑processing fees and determined that an increase is necessary. As a result, FBI fees will increase by $3.00 effective October 1, 2026. This change applies to all regulatory fingerprint submissions processed through the Oregon State Police (OSP) and submitted to the FBI.
New FBI Fee Schedule
(Effective October 1, 2026)
- New FBI fee: $15.00 • Previous fee: $12.00 • Current Oregon fee (unchanged): $33.00
What this means for you
Applicants and licensees in PPCL programs, including Private Security Providers, Private Investigators, and Polygraph Examiners will see this updated FBI fee reflected in the total fingerprint fee charged for new applications.
The new processing fee for fingerprints will be a total of $48.00 for all new applicants.
This fee increase is federal, not set by DPSST, and is based on national cost‑recovery requirements for fingerprint‑based criminal history checks.
