SUBJECT: Private Security and Investigator Policy Committee (PSIPC) – Recruitment
The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (Department or DPSST) is accepting letters of interest and accompanying interest forms for five (5) different openings/upcoming openings on the Private Security and Investigator Policy Committee (PSIPC). The recruitment is open until further notice.
Each position on the PSIPC represents a specific industry related to security or investigations operations in the state of Oregon, not an individual company or personal interest. The five options are:
- One representative of the hospitality industry.
- One representative of the manufacturing industry.

One representative of the retail industry.

One person who is an investigator licensed under ORS 703.430, is recommended by the Oregon State Bar.
- One person represents the public perspective, who has never been employed or utilized as a private security provider or an investigator; and is not related within the second degree by affinity or consanguinity to a person who is employed or utilized as a private security provider or investigator.
The PSIPC is established by Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) ORS 181A.375 and is charged with the responsibility of developing policies, requirements, standards, and rules relating to the private security and private investigator disciplines. All recommended policies, requirements, standards and rules are submitted to the Board on Public Safety Standards and Training (Board) for consideration.
The PSIPC meets on a quarterly basis. The meeting calendar is listed here: https://www.oregon.gov/dpsst/BD/Pages/default.aspx. Members of the PSIPC may be eligible for reimbursement of costs incurred traveling to and from meetings.
Nominations for membership must be submitted to the Department for presentation to the Board chairperson for consideration. All appointments to the committee will be subject to ratification by the Board. The term of an appointed member is two years. An appointed member may be appointed to a second term.
