Training: ORPAT (Oregon Physical Ability Test) Instructor Course
Target Audience: For those involved in ORPAT or CORPAT at their agency for new hire applicants, current employees attempting to earn incentive pay or interested in working at DPSST.
Sponsoring Agency: Astoria PD
When: 02/16/2024
Hours: 0800-1700 with lunch from 1200-1300
Total Hours: 8
Cost: Free.
Lunch will be the responsibility of attendees.
Where: Astoria, Oregon.
Site to be announced upon registration.
Instructors: DPSST Staff
Overview: The ORPAT Instructor course is a blend of classroom, facilitated instruction and gym-based practical application. The course will begin in the classroom with instructor-led discussion covering the: origin, history, purpose, rules, safety concerns, resources, and different applications of the ORPAT. The second session will take place in the gym and will be a hands-on practical application of: course set-up from a north-south baseline, instructional methods, practice time, participant completion of ORPAT as both an instructor and participant and breakdown of the equipment.
PLEASE NOTE:
- All participants must complete the ORPAT course and meet the Basic Police standard of 5 minutes, 30 seconds or better in order to receive their ORPAT certificate of completion.
- Please bring a clean pair of athletic shoes for the gym.
Pre-requisites: Officers attending must be in a full active-duty status.
Attire: Athletic attire for the classroom and gym, be comfortable.
