Class: I.C.I.S.F. Course: Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention
Sponsoring Agency: CIS Oregon and the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training
Target Audience: This course is designed for anyone in the field of Peer Support, crisis intervention, disaster response, education, emergency services, mental health, spiritual care, and traumatic Stress, and this training is reserved for Oregon Sheriff’s Offices, police departments, corrections and fire departments.
When: Tuesday, May 16 – Thursday, May 18, 2023
Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Where: Central Point Police Department, 140 S. 3rd Street, Central Point, OR 97502
Cost: Free.
Parking: Onsite Parking is available.
Overview: Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum. The combined Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several individual and group crisis interventions, specifically defusing's and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed.
