Senate Bill 116 Rule (Private Security Equipment, Vehicles, Uniforms and Titles)

DPSST filed a proposed amendment to OAR 259-060-0012 regarding the application of Senate Bill 116. Senate Bill 116 makes it unlawful for a private security provider or a private security business to use equipment, vehicles, uniforms or titles that imply the provider or business is affiliated with law enforcement. Senate Bill 116 became effective on January 1, 2022.

The proposed amendment to OAR 259-060-0012 is necessary to remove a compliance date that conflicts with the effective date of the law. The Notice of Proposed Rulemaking is available for review here and on the department’s website at https://www.oregon.gov/dpsst/Pages/Rules.aspx. The last day and time to provide comment on the proposed amendment is February 28, 2023, at 5pm.
