The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) is seeking a Director to oversee Oregon’s public safety training and professional standards agency.  DPSST is recognized as one of North America's most innovative state public safety standards and training organizations which embraces stakeholder participation. 

The DPSST Director works with the Board on Public Safety Standards and Training to develop and implement professional training and certification/licensing standards for more than 41,000 public and private safety professionals.  DPSST provides training to more than 25,000 students each year throughout Oregon and at the Oregon Public Safety Academy in Salem.  The Academy is a 24-hour, 7 day-a-week, residential campus which includes on-site food service and lodging venues. The campus spans 237 acres and has over 360,000 square feet of space, and 23 acres of wetlands all under the oversight and management of the agency and its staff.  

The DPSST strives to provide the resources public safety providers and public safety agencies need to maintain the highest skills and provide excellent service to Oregon's communities and residents.

Our Mission:  The mission of the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) is to promote excellence in public safety by delivering quality training and developing and upholding professional standards for Oregon’s police, corrections, and parole and probation officers, 9-1-1 telecommunicators, emergency medical dispatchers, firefighters, private security providers and private investigators.

Salary Range: $12,237 - $14,733 monthly
