Closures ahead for North Denver Avenue improvement project

Up to two lanes of southbound Interstate 5 will be closed Tuesday night from the Interstate Bridge to North Victory Boulevard for ramp work.

The closure of one and sometimes two lanes will take place from 8 p.m. Tuesday April 14 until 5 a.m. the following morning. The ramp work is related to the rehabilitating OR 99W (North Denver Avenue) from North Victory Boulevard to North Argyle Street.

As part of the project, the southbound lanes of North Denver Avenue will be closed from North Argyle Avenue to North Schmeer Street for up to 90 days starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14.

The southbound I-5 off-ramp to Victory Boulevard, Portland International Raceway, Delta Park and the Expo Center will remain open. The closure is only for the I-5 SB off-ramp to Argyle Avenue.

In addition, the Columbia Slough Trail will be closed between Whitaker Road just west of North Denver Avenue for the 90-day closure of the southbound lanes of Denver Avenue. Detour signs will be posted for bikes and pedestrians.

The year-long project will provide much-needed safety improvements to the bridges, the roadway and the bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Road closures and detours will continue through the fall of 2015.
