Maples Rest Area on OR 22 east of Gates, OR to close for maintenance project

GATES - The Maples Rest Area located just east of Gates on OR 22 will be closed from September 10-19 in order for the regon Department of Transportation to complete a maintenance project that includes repaving of the rest area.

Maples is the only rest area between Sisters and Salem. It is maintained by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and is owned by ODOT.

The closure of the rest area will start at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10 and re-open during the evening on Friday, September 19. Variable message signs (VMS) will be placed in key locations on OR 22 making motorists aware of the closure.

The maintenance project includes grinding and repaving the entire rest area, replacing a fence on the south side of the property and widening the rest area entrance/exit area with a new curb.
