Interstate 5 restrictions in Eugene and Portland

The Motor Carrier Transportation Division is mailing two notices this week to all holders of annual over-dimension permits advising of upcoming nighttime restrictions on Interstate 5 in Eugene and Portland.

 

Eugene - Beginning Thursday, August 4, 2011, and extending until September 30, the on and off ramps from I-5 northbound and southbound to OR58 near Eugene, Exit 188A and Exit 188, will be intermittently closed at night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for pavement repair work. The ramp from northbound I-5 Exit 188B to Franklin Boulevard will remain open, as will the ramp from OR99 / Franklin Boulevard to southbound I-5.   • When the ramp from I-5 southbound Exit 188 to eastbound OR58 is closed, traffic should continue on I-5 southbound to Exit 182, cross over the freeway and return to I-5 northbound, and take Exit 188A to OR58.
  • When the ramp from I-5 northbound Exit 188A to eastbound OR58 is closed, traffic should continue on I-5 northbound to Exit 189, cross over the freeway and return to I-5 southbound, and take Exit 188 to OR58.
  • When the ramp from westbound OR58 to I-5 southbound is closed, traffic should use I-5 northbound Exit 189, cross over the freeway and return to I-5 southbound.
  • When the ramp from westbound OR58 to I-5 northbound is closed, traffic should use I-5 southbound Exit 182, cross over the freeway, and return to I-5 northbound.

 

Portland - Beginning Tuesday, August 16, 2011, Interstate 5 northbound in Portland between milepost 298 and 300 will be closed three consecutive nights between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. so crews can install new signs at the Gibbs Street pedestrian bridge. Work should be completed on August 19. Traffic should use Exit 299A to OR43 (Macadam Avenue) and return to I-5 northbound.
