10-foot width, 14-foot height restrictions at Elk Creek Tunnel start April 6
ELKTON —Elk Creek Tunnel rehabilitation requires a 10-foot width and 14-foot height restriction on Oregon 38 (milepost 39) near Elkton during April 6-10.
The Elk Creek Tunnel currently has a 14-foot width and 14-foot height restriction, and closes nightly (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) every Saturday through Wednesday. There are no closures or height/width restrictions on Thursday or Friday nights. NOTE: Mobile homes with eaves are allowed, provided the base width does not exceed 14 feet.
Repair work on the Elk Creek Tunnel will require another five-day period with a 10-foot width and 14-foot height restriction. An updated press release will be distributed once that date is finalized. May 23 is the estimated project completion date.
DETOUR: Motor carriers are directed to use Oregon 138W from Interstate 5 exit 136 (Sutherlin) to Elkton. No local detour is available for the width and height restrictions. Motor carriers hauling loads need to avoid traveling through this area during the restricted days/hours, or use authorized alternate routes, such as Oregon 42 and Oregon 126.
Motor Carriers need to provide this information to their drivers, by copy of this letter or other means, to assure their awareness of the restriction. Road restrictions and dates may change due to weather or other unforeseen delays. You may view the latest restriction list at: www.oregontruckingonline.com/cf/MCAD/pubMetaEntry/restrictionsList/.
