Area Road Construction:
March 29 – April 5, 2014*
*Schedules are subject to change due to weather and site conditions.
Interstate 5 at SW Hood Avenue Bridge
Project Description: Construction is beginning on a seismic retrofit project for five bridges along the Interstate 5 corridor between Portland’s South Waterfront district and the Tualatin River. Retrofitting the state’s older bridges to meet modern seismic specifications will help ensure I-5 would not be immobilized in the event Oregon experiences a powerful earthquake.
Traffic Impacts: No traffic impacts.
The I-5 bridge work over SW Hood Avenue in South Waterfront requires a 24-hour single lane closure on SW Hood Avenue under the I-5 bridge for approximately 12 months. Due to this lane closure, road users are not permitted to continue straight on SW Bancroft Street from SW Hood Avenue. All traffic on SW Hood Avenue will be required to either turn right or left on SW Macadam Avenue. A fully signed detour is in place directing road users back to SW Bancroft Street via SW Macadam Avenue, SW Curry Street and SW Moody Avenue.
