DMV celebrates 2 million online registration renewals (Radio News Release)

Oregonians continue to use online services to save time, and Oregon's Driver and Motor Vehicle customers are no exception.

 

House: We're now at the point where we're 10 years into providing a way to renew your license plate vehicle tags online. We have hit over 2 million transactions in the past 10 years. :14

 

DMV Spokesperson David House said the milestone marks a huge step DMV took to make it easier for vehicle owners to take care of business. One of the biggest advantages: it's open 24/7.

 

House: We really encourage people to use the online service because it saves you the time and effort to go to a DMV field office in person, and at the very least, it saves you a postage stamp and a check that you put into the mail. :15

 

Oregonians can also submit a change of address online as well as report the sale of a personal vehicle. But by far, renewing your car's tags is the most popular online transaction.

 

House: When you get your renewal reminder in the mail a couple of months before your tags expire, it'll provide you a link and instructions and a special PIN to use – a PIN, personal identifying number – that you will use just one time to do that online transaction for security. :16

House: Nearly all passenger vehicles, recreational vehicles, some types of trailers are eligible for online registration renewal. When you get your renewal reminder in the mail, it'll tell you if your vehicle is eligible for it and tell you how to get started on OregonDMV.com to get that transaction started. :18
