Brunside Bridge work brings restrictions on I-5

Burnside Bridge work will mean I-5 closures

in December and January

 

PORTLAND - Starting Dec. 19, work on the Burnside Bridge over Interstate 5 in Portland will require a series of restrictions.

 

Southbound Interstate 5 exit 300B to U.S.26/OR99E/OMSI will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 until 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20.

 

Southbound I-5 between mileposts 303.18 and 301.35 in the Burnside Bridge vicinity will be closed nightly over the weekend between Dec. 20 and Dec. 23 on the following schedule:

  • 10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 to 7:30 a.m. Saturday Dec. 21.
  • 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 to 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22.
  • 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23.

 

The following ramps will also be closed during the weekend closures:

  • The ramp from North Greeley Avenue to southbound I-5.
  • The ramp from northbound Interstate 405 to southbound I-5.
  • I-5 southbound exit 302A to the Rose Quarter.
  • The ramp from Weidler/Wheeler/Winning Way to southbound I-5.
  • I-5 southbound exit 301 to eastbound Interstate 84.
  • I-5 southbound exit 300B to US26/OR99E/OMSI.

Northbound I-5 between mileposts 299.90 and 301.96 in the Burnside Bridge vicinity will be closed nightly over the weekend between Jan. 3, 2014 and Jan. 6, 2014 on the following schedule:

  • 10:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 to 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4.
  • 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 to 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5.
  • 10:30 p.m. Sunday Jan. 5, 2014 to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6.

 

In addition, the following ramps will also be closed during the same time:

  • The ramp from Southwest 5th Avenue to southbound I-405.
  • The ramp from northbound OR43 to northbound I-5
  • The ramp from the Morrison Bridge to northbound I-5.
  • The ramp from southbound I-405 to I-5 northbound will only be open to reach eastbound I-84.
  • Northbound I-5 exit 300 to I-84 eastbound will be closed, although I-405 southbound to I-5 northbound to exit 300 to I-84 eastbound will remain open.

During the I-5 closures, traffic will be directed to take I-405 then back to I-5 to bypass the restriction.

 

Motor carriers hauling loads exceeding these dimensions need to avoid traveling through this area during the restricted days/hours, or use authorized alternate routes.
