Douglas County 3D awareness event Nov. 23
Drunk and drugged driving prevention message: “Drive Sober – Save Lives”
ROSEBURG – The public is welcome to attend the annual Douglas County 3D awareness event on Saturday, Nov. 23 on the Clint Newell Auto Group property located at 1481 NE Stephens St. in Roseburg. The community safety event begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m.
The 3D campaign event is sponsored by the Clint Newell Auto Group, Oregon State Police, the Roseburg Police Department, ODOT, the Douglas County MADD chapter, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Douglas County Traffic Safety Commission and KPIC-TV. Other public safety agencies attending include the Roseburg Fire Department, Douglas County Fire District #2 and the city police departments of Myrtle Creek, Winston and Sutherlin.
“The latest data from MADD shows that, for the first time in six years, drunk driving deaths have increased nationwide,” said ODOT Traffic Safety Coordinator Rosalee Senger. The data showed one person was killed in drunk driving crashes every 51 minutes in 2012.
“We need to make sure this 100-percent preventable tragedy doesn’t happen to other families,” Senger said. “We need to end this violent crime.
“And we need your help to do it.”
You can show your support by placing a red ribbon on your vehicle this holiday season. Free ribbons will be available at the event.
Interactive displays at the 3D event include impaired driving simulator carts, the DUII mobile processing unit, a jaws of life demonstration and fact finding scavenger hunt.
