Dates change for U.S. 101 width restrictions

PISTOL RIVER — U.S. 101 at the Pistol River Bridge (milepost 339) currently has a 16-foot width restriction. Beginning Monday, Sept. 30, the width restriction narrows to 11 feet to accommodate bridge repair work. The 11-foot width restriction affects northbound and southbound traffic and is expected to remain in place until Saturday, Nov. 9.

DETOUR: Motor Carriers can detour around the width restriction using Pistol River Loop Road, which allows loads up to a maximum of 105,500 lbs. GVW for divisible loads (legal axle weights) and up to a maximum of 98,000 lbs. GVW for non-divisible loads (heavy haul axle weights).

During the 11-foot width restriction timeframe, there will be two separate, one-week periods when loads up to 14 feet in width will be allowed through the U.S. 101 work zone. The work is weather dependent, so the one-week periods have not been determined yet. Once confirmed, an additional trucking advisory will be issued and the dates will be posted to the Road & Bridge Restriction List on OregonTruckingOnline.com and on Tripcheck.com.

Beginning Saturday, Nov. 9 (the last stage of the project), the maximum width allowed will be 14 feet. Mobile homes with eaves will also be allowed, provided the base width does not exceed 14 feet in width.

Motor Carriers need to provide this information to their drivers, by copy of this letter or other means, to assure their awareness of the restriction.
