Expect minor delays, ramp closure on I-84 through October
Oct. 8, 2026
HUNTINGTON – Crews are wrapping up the first year of a two-year project to improve I-84 between Huntington and Ontario. Travelers can expect minor delays, traffic shifts and a westbound ramp closure through the end of October.
The I-84 westbound off‑ramp at Exit 356 (OR 201/Olds Ferry Interchange) is closed through October as crews pave the ramp and complete other safety improvements.
Travelers should watch for advance warning signs and follow posted detours.
Other impacts
All I‑84 traffic has been shifted to the right lanes in both directions between Exit 353 and Exit 356. This temporary configuration allows crews to complete paving and other work in the center of the interstate.
Traffic has also been shifted at milepost 360, on the east side of 3‑Mile Hill. Drivers can expect one downhill westbound lane, and two uphill eastbound lanes.
The speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph between Exit 353 and Exit 356. Drivers should remain alert for new traffic patterns and increased roadside activity.
These traffic shifts and closures will remain in place through October as crews finish the first year of the two-year highway improvement project between Huntington and Ontario.
Construction schedules may change based on weather and project needs.

About the project
We are repaving 16 miles of I‑84 in both directions and rebuilding the transitions between the interstate and the OR 201/Olds Ferry Interchange at milepost 356.
This work will extend the life of the highway, reduce maintenance needs, and improve safety for all travelers.
This two-year project is scheduled for completion in October 2027.
