Sept. 11, 2026
WEST LINN – OR 43 will be closed under the Abernethy Bridge from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the nights of Sept. 16, 17, 22 and 23 for girder installation under the bridge.
The bridge project also will close the Interstate 205 off-ramp to OR 99E from 10 p.m. Sept. 27 to 5 a.m. Oct. 2.
OR 43 detours
- Drivers will be detoured onto I-205.
- People walking and bicycling will experience short holds and flagging on OR 43 during the overnight closures but will be able to travel through with delays.
During the OR 43 closures, the northbound on-ramp from OR 43 to Interstate 205 also will be closed.
  OR 99E off-ramp closure
The I-205 off-ramp closure will be around-the-clock starting at 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, until 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2.
During this closure, crews will rebuild the ramp so it will align with I-205 in the next stage of construction. The off-ramp will be closed to all traffic, including emergency services, for the duration of the closure.
Off-ramp detour
During the ramp closure, there will be a signed detour directing drivers to continue north on I-205 to Exit 11 to 82nd Drive. From there, drivers can return to I-205 heading south and exit at OR 99E.
 About the project
ODOT is upgrading the Abernethy Bridge, which spans the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn, to withstand a major earthquake. We are also improving safety by realigning on- and off-ramps near the bridge and building new bike and pedestrian routes. This work is expected to finish in 2027.
Project updates
As with any construction project, closure dates and timing are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen events.
